Our Story
Independent, local, and proudly traditional.
Churston Traditional Farm Shop has been consistently named one of the best independent food retailers in Devon — renowned for selling the very best of regional produce.

Where it began
Founded by farmers, built on local food.
Churston was created by Caroline and her family — farmers who worked this corner of South Devon for decades — to market the fabulous food and drink produced in the South Hams and the wider South West. The shop opened its doors on the Dartmouth Road in 2008.
As farmers, they knew produce of outstanding quality was being raised and grown all around — their mission was to create a showcase for it, and to know the history and welfare of every animal behind the meat on the counter.
“We didn’t want to run just any old farm shop. We wanted a shop whose style would mirror the exceptional quality of what we sold.”
You won’t find yourself stumbling over boxes of carrots — our produce is displayed as it would be in any luxury food store.
Growing into a destination
Then came Caroline’s Kitchen
In 2011 the farm shop gained a kitchen of its own — Caroline’s Kitchen, opened in time for Easter and an instant success. The philosophy was the same as the shop floor’s: most of what comes into the kitchen comes from the shop itself.
Today the site brings together the farm shop, butchery, deli and Caroline’s Kitchen — with Pure Garden Centre alongside — and this quiet corner of Torbay welcomes thousands of locals and holidaymakers every year.
